Green Light for Green Season! | September/Oct 2025 at CrossFit Potrero

We’ve got a Green Light for Green Season! And while this is a slow time for the region, and used to be a lower and slower time for CrossFit Potrero, we’re gearing up for a FANTASTIC two months.

We’re continuing Friday Night Lights after two super fun events in July/August, and dialing it up to add a little more fire and friendly competition!

We’re restarting Beach WODs with the first one coming up next Saturday, September 13!

We’re trying a new type of event with two Sports Spotlights, one with our friends at the TamaRocks Climbing Gym, and another right here in Potrero with the gang from Running High!

We’re also starting to train for the Hybrid Race Costa Rica, a 6k hybrid race for both individuals and pairs that’ll take place in San José on November 8. If we get enough athletes interested, we’ll get a big place to stay, and Coach Harry will lead us into battle! Registrations opened a few days ago and close on October 2, so let us know if you’re interested in joining us at this event!

And biggest of all, we’re hosting our first annual Challenge Week, which we’ll explain below!

Saturday Beach WODs

image12Let’s be real: it’s been way, way, way too long since we’ve done a beach WOD! So we’re breaking out two in this cycle! BeachWODs are a chance to get active and fit, and mix in a little bit of fun on the beach. We combine the 8:15am and 9:30am Saturday classes into one big fun day!

Sports Spotlights

image7There’s a reason we still do CrossFit after years and years: it’s the most multifunctional fitness plan out there! And when you apply that to your favorite competitions and adventure sports, the results of your training are incredible!

And while this season won’t mark the revival of CFPFC (let us know if we should play more fútbol), we’re adding a little bit of adventure with special events once a month, spotlighting our friends across Guanacaste and all the wonderful activities they’re getting up to.

We’re starting with a journey to TamaRocks at the end of September to show off all of that mobility and gymnastics work we’ve been doing on Tuesdays, and then joining our pals from Running High mid-October for a little blend of on-road/off-road running!

Dates:

Tuesday, Sep 30, 7pm @TamaRocks (May Require Drop-In Fee)

Wednesday, Oct 15, Start Time TBD | Running High

Hybrid Race Costa Rica

image10We always say that the adventure is its own reward, but if you’ve got that competitive drive in you, we’re going to be training for the Hybrid Race Costa Rica, which takes place on November 8th in San José.

Coach Harry will start adding some of these movements to our training rotation, and as we get closer, if we’ve got enough members interested in competing, we’ll have some special, dedicated training sessions to focus on this type of stimulus and competition.

If you’re interested, you can chat with any of the coaches, and make sure to sign up for the event by October 2! Based on the numbers we get registered + anyone who wants to come for moral support, we’ll get a big place in San José, load up on carbs, run the race, and enjoy a big, fun, festive celebration afterward. It’s one of the most fun things we do, so definitely ask if you’re interested!

Dates:

October 2nd | Registration Closes

November 8th | Race Day

Challenge Week 2025 (Oct 26 -> Nov 1)

Screenshot 2025-09-04 at 3.37.11 PMAnd to cap off this season, we’ll be hosting a 7-day Challenge Week with big prizes to win for everyone in our community! Every year, our coaching team takes some much-needed vacation, and in the past, that meant all of our athletes took a week off too.

But this year, we’re doing something a little bit different. Like in past years, the gym will be closed during the last week of October, and we won’t have any classes, but that’s because our fitness challenge will take place all over Guanacaste and beyond!

Here’s how to participate, earn discounts on your next month’s membership, and compete for the Challenge Week Crown, worth one free month’s membership!

Rules of Challenge Week

To participate in Challenge Week, you have to get a picture of yourself (and friends if you want!) participating in 7 different activities, each one representing a different animal that inspires us. As a reminder, those animals are:

  • The Sloth (Rest and Recovery)
  • The Vaca (Strength + Steadiness)
  • The Mono (Movement + Gymnastics)
  • The Caballo (Power + Endurance)
  • The Jaguar (Poise and Explosiveness)
  • The Delfín (Play and Free Movement)
  • The Coati (Teamwork)

At the end of the week, anyone who gets a photo of them doing all 7 animal-inspired activities and turns them in at info@crossfitpotrero.com will get $20 off their next membership purchase!

Our coaching team will then narrow down the photo selections of all qualifying Challengers, and with your help, we’ll select the champion of Challenge Week, who will get their entire next month’s membership for free!

It’s a brand new twist to cap off the green season, and we hope you’re as excited about it as we are!

Let's Have an Awesome Season

As you can see in this article, there’s a lot to get involved in during the next few months. Not to mention, we’ve just added our suggestion box and referral forms, so you can start shaping the CrossFit Potrero you know into one you can truly love.

But also, we get that this is a lot to take in! If you have any questions, you can reach out to us at info@crossfitpotrero.com. In the meantime, have a great week!
