
Our Fauna Fitness Philosophy

If you've been into the gym recently, you'll notice a few things have changed in how we structure our workouts!
In the past few months, we've been working on how CFP can really move into the next chapter here on Calle Mariposa, and we've started by bringing a little bit of Costa Rica's wild spirit into the way we plan our workouts.
We call it our Fauna Fitness Philosophy, and below, we'll break down what you can expect in the average week at CrossFit Potrero.
Monday | Vaca
We start the week with strength, balance, and consistency, taking inspiration from our friendly mango-munching neighbors, the vacas!
Warm Up Focus: Balance
Training Focus: Strength (lower body)
Workout Focus: Consistency Start to Finish
Tuesday | Mono
Next, we build mobility and efficiency, taking a lesson from our easy-swinging neighbors the Howler Monkeys with a gymnastics and upper-body emphasis.
Warm Up Focus: Range of Motion
Training Focus: Gymnastics (upper body)
Workout Focus: Efficiency of Movement
Wednesday | Caballo
At midweek, we learn from the powerful, dependable horses of Guanacaste's cowboy country, balancing care for our body with a blend of power and endurance training.
Warm Up Focus: Working Highly Used Joints and Muscles
Training Focus: Sustained Power
Workout Focus: Endurance
Thursday | Jaguar
And as we turn towards the second half of the week, Costa Rica's king of the jungle shows us you can blend grace with strength, explosivity with control.
Warm Up Focus: Body Control and Stabilizer Muscles
Training Focus: Explosive Movements Done with Control
Workout Focus: High Intensity at Intervals
Friday | Delfín
With the weekend calling, we take Fridays to learn from our free-living friends from beyond the waves, the Dolphins, with an emphasis on fun and freestyle movements.
Warm Up Focus: Freedom of Movement + Lesser-Known Stretches
Training Focus: Freestyle (Train for the Movement or Activity you want)
Workout Focus: Blending Exercise with Play
Saturday | Pizote
And as Saturday comes around, we could all use a bit of a hand getting out of bed. Fortunately, we take a page from Pizotes and focus on teamwork!
Warm Up Focus: Recovery
Workout Focus: Teamwork
Sunday | Perezoso
Sundays though... Sundays we learn from the Oso Perezoso, the Lazy Bear, the animal named after the sin, the Sloth, and we take it nice and easy. Everyone needs to rest!
